Being Thankful

So this Thanksgiving my family went to celebrate with a family other than ours. Lots of appetizers had been brought, including black olives. Now in my family black olives are a big deal. Every year my grandfather would buy big cans of them. We would eat loads of them and until my fingers grew too big, I would put one olive on each finger. Now most families have pumpkin pie for dessert, but this family didn’t. It wasn’t until near the end of the gathering that I started longing to enjoy it once more. My grandfather and I thought the bigger the better. Although, it isn’t all about the pie either, whipped cream is very important. The more, the merrier. We would joke around saying, “this can be my pie, and you guys can share that one, but I am going to need all of this whipped cream!” We did this especially when I was younger. Despite the fact that I was a little sad we couldn’t eat with our family, I did enjoy being with the other one as well. I suppose you could say that at this year’s Thanksgiving, I was thankful for the memories.
